In April 2019, I gave a TED talk at TED’s main conference in Vancouver, Canada about the dangers of social media platforms and how they have been used to undermine democracy. The talk was based on nearly three years of research and reporting published in the Observer. Arron Banks sued me for defamation as a result of that talk.

Leaving Twitter was not hard, but one voice I have sorely missed is that of #CarolCadwalladr. In @TheGuardian article below she not only sings clearly the praises of #CarolVorderman speaking truth to power, but in doing so reveals the diminishing legitimacy of the #UK's political institutions and processes. How few are the voices warning about the slender thread by which our democracy hangs! No Opposition speech should fail to mention the need for revolutionary reform.
