A while ago, I caught one of my #CarolinaWren couples canoodling with a third bird. I knew he knew he was off base when he fliitted over to join his regular mate the second I stepped out.

Third girl did the #WalkOfShame next morning and my couple, who are supposedly lifelong mates, have now left the roost.

been watching this nature documentary unfold in real time. a caroline wren made her nest in my potted plant, and the chicks hatched within the last few days. currently watching mama bird go back and forth to feed them. 🥺

Okay, where is it?!

This is a Carolina wren. A while back, I put a block of suet hanging from the hook connected to the fence, next to the shed. There is also a small hole under the fence at that location. This wren would either from under the shed or from the hole and fly up to the suet. One day I set out a hanging feeder and moved the suet to a shepherd's hook on the other side of the large feeder in the center of the yard - a tactical error. This is the wren looking for the suet, but this is the wrong shepherd's hook. The right one was about 8 meters away. This is the last time I saw the wren.

We had the office door open since it's been kind of nice temperature-wise today, and we had a little visitor! Luckily was able to coax it away from the shop and towards the door... and then it veered wildly and crashed into a window ;w;

Luckily, the little one is safe and sound, was just a bit shaken up. Was able to get it back outside, talked to it a little, just kept an eye on it. It finally flew off a few minutes ago, good as new! What a cool, random experience

Two played decoys while a third took to a nearby tree and summoned auxiliary troops through the most engaging song. #TeamWren chased off a gang of about five or six doves. #Birds #Birding #NatureLovers

Carolina Wrens only moved into the Montreal area from the south a bit over ten years ago but can survive (small numbers) remarkable cold providing they can find food which in winter means garden feeders.

Carolina Wren

I put out this new bird feeder and shuffled my hanging feeders around. This feeder is hanging where a suet feeder was and moved the suet feeder closer to my old main feeder. I may need to rethink that idea. This wren doesn't seem amused that the suet is no longer there.

Carolina Wren

I've been slowly upgrading my backyard bird arsenal. Several, Mastodon friends recommended adding suet to attract more woodpeckers. I added suet and noticed for a few days that something had been picking at the edges. But, so far as I know, not woodpeckers. Instead, this wren was on it this morning. I took a few photos through my patio windows. I only had a few seconds until the wren jumped to the ground and magically disappeared.
