@QasimRashid My mother was pregnant with me during the summer when that happened. That child's death shook the Black community to its core. People who lived up North routinely sent their kids South, as Mamie Till did, to visit relatives as soon as school was out for the summer. If my mother ever entertained the idea of sending her kids to visit relatives in MS, Till's death forever quashed that notion.

For those of you who don't recall, Carolyn Bryant is the woman who lied about Emmett Till to get him lynched.

Carolyn Bryant had a warrant out for her arrest because she lied about Emmett Till grabbing her. Mind you, she was 20 & he was 14 at the time. A big part of anti-Black racism is making children seem like adults. She played on the racism of the people around her & had this TEENAGER murdered as a result.

Carolyn Bryant should not have died from old age. There was no justice for the Black community as she died from old age. There is still justice to be had.

The family of Emmett Till found an old arrest warrant for Carolyn Bryant that had never been served, the police said they couldn't find her (I doubt they even looked). A grand jury declined to indict her because there was "insufficient evidence". This does not show Carolyn Bryant's innocence, it only shows how the justice system is geared toward naturalizing Black death & suffering, while PRESUMING innocence on behalf of white men & women. We all know what Carolyn Bryant did, & she deserves to be tormented in the afterlife for that. May the ancestors of Emmett Till, & Emmett Till himself be able to confront her there.

The closest the Black community got to justice was the New Black Panther Party going to her house & holding a rally, calling on her to come out of her house & to lock her up for her crimes against humanity. In an incredibly ironic twist, the cops, who defended Carolyn Bryant the whole time, arrested someone from the New Black Panther Party before the rally for... you guessed it... an outstanding arrest warrant. We truly live in an apartheid state.

Rest in piss Carolyn Bryant.
