Making a grandiose promise to go carbon-neutral eventually is the easy bit. The hard bit is changing what you actually do and how you do it this year, next year, ad infinitum.

The UK's National Trust has not grasped this yet.

To achieve carbon reduction goals, you have to stop privileging car drivers over everyone else.

Heres my contribution to the orange and blue oeuvre of film work ...sort of...😄

The bright orange of the artificial street lights near the coach park contrasting nicely with the deep blue of the sky. Also, Orion, hanging out there above Fingal's seat.

There may be other juxtapositions in there somewhere but I'll leave the interpretation to you 🙂

From a discussion in the other place about how difficult it is to navigate cars around multi-storey car parks, lots of the car parks were designed built in the 1960/70s, it's interesting to compare the dimensions of a typical car then and now, it is not hard to see where the problem is...

I still think the one in Portree is hard to beat though, especially when the Cuillins are picked out in fresh snow with the evening light illuminating the bay... This was about 15.30 this afternoon but still very much "evening light" 🙂 The dog tolerated me crossing the road to cross back again but clearly didn't appreciate the detour...

Electrek - France to require all large parking lots to be covered by solar panels

Starting July 1, 2023, carparks with more than 400 spaces have to be covered in solar panels within three years. Smaller carparks have up to five years.

According to the French government, this plan, which particularly targets large parking areas around commercial centers and train stations, could generate up to 11 gigawatts, which is the equivalent of 10 nuclear reactors, powering millions of homes.
