Oil pressure light comes on. I go to garage, carefully, they promise to look at it in the morning. Today they tell me, oil pressure gauge no good, easy part to fix, $183 total.

I get the car home, notice an oil trail, turn it on again, oil pressure light comes on AGAIN...

Yesterday my broke down on beautiful Minjerriba, an island off the coast of Brisbane. Called RACQ (road assist) & as they had no available services on the island on the weekend, I was told we’d have to wait til Monday for assistance 🤯. we needed to return home to Brisbane on Sunday night. We tried to see if ChatGPT could help diagnose the problem and got a pretty good answer and some tips. After some tinkering we managed to get the car going again, well enough to make the ferry and get back to Brisbane (limping home w automatic transmission stuck in second or third gear). The car will need repairs at mechanics but I am v pleased that the ChatGPT answer helped get us home and saved the $500 plus fee I’d have incurred to have the car towed home from the island. Google search also brought up some good info on how to fix the problem but it would have taken longer to sift through the many results & try different options

Just before stepping out, I see a dude with a tow trailer show up and try to move the neighbor's car. Now the car is dead and blocking my exit. Guess I will go out and help him push.

After two and a half years driving a car with one key (and one key fob) I finally managed to lock the keys inside. Luckily this was the kind of thing for which we're paying for an AMA membership, and in like ten minutes (!) a locksmith guy drove up and unlocked the passenger door with, like, two pieces of plastic. (Not at all unsettling.) Plan for my week off: go get another key and/or fob.

I went to the car rental site last night to renew, again, the truck for another week. It told me I had maxed out for renewals. My van is still in the shop and we go back to school on Monday.

This just dawned on me: Years ago, we were driving home from the beach when we stopped in Camarillo. Our van died. We had to get a new van. Fast forward: we moved to Camarillo in February. Our van has died and we need a new engine or a new van. Hmmm, let’s start a new conspiracy theory. :D (Of course, it would make more sense if it happened in Oxnard since Camarillo has no car dealerships. But conspiracy theories don’t care about realism.)
