The news outlet did the thing it always does: once it became known that Cashay was a trans woman, they changed "woman" to "person," but also decided to misgender her in the image description. They finally walked it all back, but...but.

Trans people - especially Black trans women - very often receive no dignity, even in death. And everyone seems to be just fine with that.
