Good vs. Evil? Nah.
My stories aren't for everyone.
Some people want it dark, and my books are not that. They have dark moments, and people who do bad things, but the overall atmosphere is hopeful.

#WritingWonders 2/12: Are there any themes that pop up a lot in your writing?
This is one of my favorite things to talk about! Some themes:
*community building
*found family
*the insidiousness of prejudice
*family trauma
*impostor syndrome
*forgiveness
*the power of hope/belief
*tunnel vision and it's destructive power
*obsessions
There's more but that's some of the major themes!

#WritingWonders 2/10: How are mental health issues handled in your world?
As my world is basically the fae-ified version of this one, about the same. Some people get help, others lean on friends, and some slip through the cracks like Vali's unhoused friend Jimmy in Cast a Shadow of Doubt. Just like this world, not enough people get the care that they need.

A Book Birthday for CASOD!
A year ago my second book in the Stories of the Eleriannan, Cast a Shadow of Doubt , was released to the world. It centers on Lucee Fearney, a character who surprised me while I was writing In Sleep You Know with just how important and loveable she is - and I knew the second book needed to center on her.

I forgot to mention this here, but I've got a special holiday package deal at my #KoFi for my first two paperbacks. You can get both, signed and with a couple of extra treats, for a special price that includes S&H. [if you're not in the US but want this, message me and I'll make something happen for you!]
It's the perfect time to treat yourself!
“If there’s one thing I have in surplus, it’s a positive outlook. So, I took some of that energy and wrapped it up in this tag. I guess you could say I imbued it with belief in goodness—in something better, you know?” She leaned forward in a gentle, encouraging movement. “I think you might need some of that. Maybe that’s insulting, but I hope not. Sometimes we all need some help, when things get dark and difficult.” Vali, totally channeling me, Cast a Shadow of Doubt.
2022 was really tough for me. A year of flares, fighting with insurance to get the medicine I need for my Crohn's, two surgeries in less than a month, a long recovery.
But I also published my second book, made a lot of new friends, and took the germ of a story I began a while ago and started transforming it into something I think I'm going to be proud of when I'm done. I feel old, I feel young, I feel alive and ready to live again. Let's goooooo.
