The Earth, as a planet, isn't in any immediately apparent danger, the ecosystem is.

I would argue that a lifeless Earth makes it "normal" planet.

Which, in turn, would suggest our destroying the ecosystem is "nature restoring the balance."

For the record, I don't want this to happen, and would like my children (who are now grown adults) and (hypothetical) grandchildren, et al, to have an ecosystem in which to live.

By my maths, which are iffy at best, Net GHG is going to go UP, in a not linear fashion, for a while, and only decline after we've driven ourselves into a "hothouse stone age." (grossly oversimplified)

Is there a Greek myth that captures the #Autistic experience better than the story of #Cassandra? That's not actually meant to be a rhetorical question; I'm seriously interested in finding more archetypes with some real cultural significance.

tldr: The god Apollo had a thing for the Trojan princess/priestess Cassandra. He gave her the divine gift of foresight to win her over, but things didn't work out, and then he did the usual petty god thing and cursed her so that no one would ever believe her completely true and accurate prophecies.

This story feels Autistic at two levels. One, autistic people are extremely used to folks assuming we're either dishonest or mistaken when we say things that are true and accurate. But at a deeper level, Cassandra had a gift that could have been wondrously valuable for her and the people around her, but in the end it wasn't just worthless but the worst thing ever to happen to her.

Sisyphus' doom is eternal toil that never accomplishes anything. Tantalus spends eternity unsatisfied since the most basic elements of human life are forever just out of reach. Prometheus is tormented forever for sharing the fire of insight and wisdom, because people despise those that can see farther and know more than them, even if they are nothing but helpful and kind. Yes, tragedy is the main theme of these stories. I wonder why.

But while those myths feel relevant to the autistic experience, none of them feel quite as autistic as Cassandra's tale. Any suggestions for classic myths for autistic archetypes?

Most big #cassandra users I am in touch with forked the project - why? If you think of Cassandra as a platform instead of a database everything makes sense. The releases are just the starting point - anyone serious will turn it into a data store which fits their need like a glove.
