The aka is an emission nebula in about 7500 light years away. The center of the nebula is being carved out by radiation emitted by stars found there. This creates finger-like plumes of gas, called "pillars of creation", that can be seen along the edges. The gas is increasingly compressed to form new stars at the end of the plumes. This image is 70 five-minute exposures (5 hours and 50 minutes).

After nearly 2 months waiting for a clear night, I was able to capture some additional OIII and SII data to last year’s HA data from NGC 281 aka “Pac-Man in the constellation . Total integrated data of approximately 6 hours.

The blue star in this image is Gamma Cassiopeia, the bright star in the center of the W shape of the constellation. The Ghost of Cassiopeia aka is the emission nebula to the left of the star. is the blue reflection nebula above the Ghost. Reflection nebula aren't hot enough to generate their own light but instead can be seen only by their reflection of light from nearby stars.

The aka is located in the constellation. It is an active star-forming area about 6000 light years away. This image is 24 five-minute exposures captured in the wee hours of Friday morning.

Glimpsing Cassiopeia's rising above the mountain at winter solstice... Does it convey the yet-to-be-realised promise of escape from the death march of capital or a baleful prefiguration of climate catastrophe? Some musings here academia.edu/103633551/Starry_

Yesterday's daily photo was a crop of this one which shows the Nebula on the right and the open star cluster on the left. M52 is a large star cluster in the constellation. The central portion of the cluster shows very little interstellar matter. The current theory is that this matter was blown away by many supernova explosions early in the life of the cluster. The cluster is estimated to be more than 150 million years old.

aka the Nebula is a hydrogen II emission area about 8000 light year away in the constellation. The "bubble" is being formed by a massive short-lived star blowing away its hydrogen and now fusing helium in its core. Because of clouds and smoke, I was only able to capture 30 minutes (6x300 seconds) of exposure. This is a crop of a larger image.

Many of the elements heavier than Iron, several that are part of our biology, are forged during supernova explosions and neutron star mergers. These elements along with those lighter than Fe are dispersed into inter-stellar space and seed future stars and planetary systems.
There is evidence that our own solar system may have been seeded by a nearby supernova explosion.

Supernova explosions occur when massive stars fuse most of the Hydrogen into heavier elements, all the way up to Iron. The core undergoes sudden collapse once it is unable to produce sufficient energy from fusion to counteract the star's own gravity.
Supernovae expel prodigious amounts of elements in the interstellar medium from oxygen to rubidium.
The X-ray images below from Chandra depict the location of various elements in Cas A.

Here is a new video from HubbleWebbESA that zooms in to Cassiopeia A (Cas A), the supernova remnant located within our Milky Way galaxy about 11,000 light-years from Earth.

Where is Supernova remnant Cassiopeia A located in the night sky?
It is located slightly to the right of the W-shaped Cassiopeia constellation.

Cassiopeia is one the most easily recognizable constellations due to its distinctive 'W' shape, formed by five bright stars. The 5 stars are located at distances between 55 and 550 light-years from earth.

Cas A is 11,000 light-years from Earth and spans ~10 light-years.

remnant. -A. 340 earth years ago it went boom. Infrared.

I can't fucking focus on it. Like in a dream, trying to read. What the fuck is this detritus?

Motherfucker. I know: this looks like the aftermath of a fucking . I should let know.

: In November 1572, Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe was among those who noticed a new bright object in the constellation who thought it to be a new Star.

Astronomers now know that Tycho’s new star was not new at all. Rather it signaled the death of a star in a supernova. It is now named after Tycho as "The ".
