EPW editorial: Is Caste a Private Matter?

As has been argued again and again right from the formation of the Constitution, caste and inequalities of different kinds are intricately interlinked with each other. Therefore, it is necessary to both talk publicly about caste and document its relative position in the opportunity structures, which becomes all the more necessary for a country that has an egalitarian Constitution. It is discrimination and deprivation that provides a legitimate ground for the very interrogation of caste.
