As I celebrated my 40th birthday last week this great album celebrated its 50th - released 10 years to the day before I was. I've always loved its sombre, rocky vibe. My favourite #BobMarley album.

Great Albums, 1970s, No. 26: #BobMarleyAndTheWailers – #CatchAFire (1973). One of the first reggae albums to break internationally, Catch a Fire presented the original Wailers at their peak. Marley’s “Concrete Jungle” and “Slave Driver” were potent anthems of social justice and Rasta consciousness. Peter Tosh’s “400 Years” was a historical potboiler, followed by “Stop That Train,” an infectious statement of purpose. A definitive reggae classic.

Heavy night. Totally unplanned. Don’t watch much tv or stream, but today, I turned on the TV and first it was #TheUnitedStatesVSBillieHoliday and then #CatchaFire about Patrick Chamusso. Insane to see the same harassment, intimidation, terroristic methods wielded by white folk both in the US and South Africa. How they infiltrated and turned us against each other. Phew!
