#CatDrama update: Jeeves the #feral is now six days out from neuter surgery! That means tomorrow I no longer need to restrict his activity. He can transition from my guest bathroom to the garage.

I share my car with a neighbor whose car croaked, and we've agreed to start parking in his garage in order to turn mine into a feline habitat. (Yes, we both say "cat house" to be tasteless, but I try to behave on here.)

Eventually Jeeves will be an indoor/outdoor garage cat.

Jeeves is pretty calm in the cage in my guest bathroom (the designated feral/stray cat room). This guy was clearly once someone's pet, even though he is feral now. At the charity they will of course scan for a microchip and put a picture of him on the web for a few days, then proceed with the rest of the rescue stuff. He'll be neutered, vaccinated, wormed, etc.

The resident former ferals are clearly ticked off also. We are having some major #CatDrama .

Patio Cat decided to show up again last night, earlier than usual, and this time he was just sitting on the patio calmly instead of howling for food from the bushes.

My former ferals have been total jerks about him despite the fact that they showed up the same way. But last night they weren't flipping out as much. I think they're getting resigned to this.

Standard procedure is: turn the cat into a "regular" with food, try to get a picture, post it to the community website, borrow a humane trap if no one claims the cat, trap the cat and scan for a chip, if none then trap/neuter/release.

Since there are coyotes around here, I've kept two ferals I re-socialized. Despite having shown up EXACTLY the same way, they were complete JERKS towards this cat.

I yelled at them. There was #CatDrama. Looking forward to a repeat tonight.

Thanks! I have to find out whether there's an owner, of course. If it's a stray, I will get it to a shelter to check for a microchip. If it's feral, I know how to do TNR and can borrow another trap from a local charity. Right now it's just one step at a time: feed the cat and figure out what to do once the poor creature is a regular here.

I'm just moaning because I'm gonna be up all night with #CatDrama probably for the next few nights.
