Tried to connect to other players with #GameCenter in my upcoming #Categories game, but it fails to connect on iOS 17 beta 7 all the time. Can’t complete the data exchange this way… any tips?

Will focus on the achievements screen instead. I hope beta 8 fixes it…

Almost final draft of Category Theory I: Notes Towards A Gentle Introduction done. Just got to finish the final chapter and index before I make a super-cheapo paperback print-on-demand version too. So now, yep NOW, is the time to tell me where I've fouled up!

(Hopefully, the notes will be particularly useful preparatory reading for those planning to take an industrial strength, fully-caffeinated, grad course next semester -- or for anyone else wanting a reasonably accessible intro. So do spread the word to students, etc.)

#Reference request: I am attending a learning seminar on #Floer #Homotopy theory this semester. Coming from the symplectic side of things, I could use a nice accessible reference on the #algebra side, specifically on stable ∞ -#categories and the category of spectra in particular.
I already have Chapter 1 of *Higher Algebra* by Jacob Lurie.
Anybody have any other good suggestions? (Ideally ones that do not require the whole kitchen sink of model categories.)

I recently read somewhere that the common abbreviation for the forgetful functor, 𝑈, comes from French ”oublier”. [Is this really true?]

Knowing this made learning category theory a little bit easier. Probably because when learning something, I have to be aware of everything I do not understand, and the missing explanation for the name 𝑈 adds to the mental load, even if knowing it is not my main goal.
