I found an interesting rabbit hole while looking into the origins of the Castas and limpieza de sangre. It has quite a different meaning here in New Mexico, and it illustrates some of our history that I didn't expect to surface through this exploration of Castas.
An interesting aspect I'd kind of forgotten as a people is how the Government/Church left us for decades if I remember correctly and we had Penetentes or the Brotherhood of Light to keep our villages and churches going through that time. Then it has never been super smooth with the church once the coast was finally clear and the Church returned.
The mix of politics and church are quite interesting from back in the day. I am hearing that the Casta System hit the scene based on the Council of Trent. I'll have to dig deeper on this for the details. But it has origins in the conversion/expulsion of 1492.

I'm trying to find the Catholic Church's stance on eugenics and the promotion of eugenicist policy. I'm wondering how disabled Catholics are included in the life of the Church. Does anyone know where I can learn more about the Church and eugenics in general, and it's stance on marriage equality for disabled people specifically?
I also am wondering how the Church and disability might overlap with the philosophy and historic institution of limpieza de sangre, the Casta system, eugenics, and the Inherent Dignity of a Human Person.
