I don't know if this character exists through the whole book or just briefly, but for right now A Desolation Called Peace is a surprise #CatStoriesClub book and it's very cute and good. Yay!

I might start a comics one but I'm bad at starting things so who knows.

Oh but I just remembered an issue I had with the dog and my assumed solution for Binx's selective human speech.

I had decided that he must have learned to talk again over time with practice. New mouth shape and all.

But this new character gets turned into a puppy and *immediately* starts talking to her friends.

So... Yeah. Why didn't Binx just...tell someone? At least try? "Hi Dad, I'm a cat"? Worth a shot, since they already treat him like crap.

Aw, the Hocus Pocus sequel is not one for #CatStoriesClub so far. There is a puppy, though.

There is some clumsy sequel writing, plots that were neatly wrapped up being dragged back out in service of nostalgia. I don't like it. Let characters rest and enjoy their happy-ish endings, sheesh.

I also think this writer (or team of squirrels in a writer suit, idk) does not know how to write adults. At all. Very ooc-ness, much weird.

Totally new unrelated characters might have been a better choice.

It's been a long time since I *first* watched Hocus Pocus, and I forgot how long it actually takes Thackery to talk. Since I know it's coming, there's never a point where I'm like "OH HEY THE CAT TALKS."

Reading the novelization is interesting because for awhile I wasn't sure he would. It seemed like he was present and silent for quite awhile, and I thought having him just be an immortal cat would have been a fun take.

Inadvertently stumbled on some things for #CatStoriesClub in my comics this week. Runaways and The Life of Captain Marvel so far, wondering what others will pop up. There are probably cats in a lot of my comics, now that I think of it.

I'll have to take another look and come back to talk about those later.

#AmReading "Fangs and Catnip" by Julia Talbot.

Gail Carriger's "San Andreas Shifters" series introduced me to shifter romances and caught my interest, but this is only the second one I've read.

It's much better. I love Gail's work and I'm super excited for the next book, but this just seems...more experienced? Also, cats! Well, cat. Mountain lion, but people keep referring to him as "kitty."
