The gifting behavior means that the #catyouclearlydohave views your home as a safe colony that it wants to join. If it wasn't gifting, it would have eaten it.

I started keeping mine inside during the first lockdown, but the bird murder (which is worse because I live in NZ where cats are not yet naturalized) resumed on release so they became permanent #indoorcats which required a few changes.
