BTW my talk on #Holistic #LocalFirst software from #CausalIslands is already out on YouTube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0EcpqX2Wq0&t=9073s
This paints my vision for how #p2p #web / #dweb tech can fit in with #mesh networks with @agregore / #DistributedPress / @webrecorder to create a new foundation for resilient and cheaper technology.

I had a lot of fun at #causalislands this week, but I'm really thankful to be back home with my pets and plushies too. 🥰
now that #causalislands has wrapped up, some vibes:
- really great speaker selection, strong canadian representation, props @causalislands
- running themes of the death of twitter/public internet spaces, this moment before the deluge of LLMs
- kinda mournful in that way, but
- positive energy towards salvaging the future

Managed to successfully do a presentation from my #SteamDeck at #causalislands
I still ended up needing my keyboard to hit f11, but I think I just need to spend a few hours messing with my bindings to be able to go fully controller-first.
One of my front tires popped on the highway as I was in the middle lane. 🥲
Luckily I managed to manuver to the side befoee it caused a collission.
Now I gotta figure out how to coordinate getting this thing fixed while I attend #causalislands 🤪
The conference memorabilia we’re going to have, especially the custom made jackets from Oona Clothing here in #Vancouver, is going to be stellar.
Yes there is a virtual option to attend. Anyone want to gather a crew and do a “watch party” in a major center?
And yes, there is student pricing — ping me and I can get you the link.
And yes, I’ve got sponsor spots left for you ;)
I want to thank all of my @fission team mates for the work put in so far - and more to come!
Special shout out to @zeeshanlakhani who has been the driving force on the programming committee to help bring these incredible speakers together.
The first confirmed workshop is a hands on with #Noosphere, led by @gordon & @cdata https://subconscious.network
The call for proposals is closed…
…BUT!!! we’re still going through submissions…so fill it out ASAP if you think you’ve got something that’s a great fit.
Remember: we’re paying speaker travel, accommodation, and a small honorarium.

(Or you can get a jump on next year)
A few things are still to be announced, like:
* some live programming + music experiences
* a Wednesday night social that will have some party only tickets for the #Toronto community to come join
* full details on day 1 workshops and talk abstracts
Don’t forget to turn your Causal Islands talk proposals in by the 31st! Take a little time this weekend to review our CFP and submit your application. We look forward to hearing from you! https://causalislands.com/cfp/

@justbe yup! Not 100% the focus of #CausalIslands that we're putting together in April 2023 in Toronto, but definitely related! https://causalislands.com
