So I feel like addressing this narrative of how smart these mediocre, unremarkable, rich as fuck white dudes are by sharing just a bit of what I’ve done and working on with damn near no resources since entering tech in 2014:

- spoken at over 50 conferences
- produced my on conference in one year including 5 international locations
- built the #causeascene community across various platforms
- produced over 100 episodes of the industry changing #causescene podcast

When he realized that I was not going to allow him to enter, he began cussing at me…I can admit that my #causeascene me would’ve cussed him right back but I didn’t…I just stood my ground

He then started screaming “get your hands off me” and then threatened to call 911…I was like go ahead

I HAVE A KEY AND YOU DO NOT

But I can admit that it wasn’t lost on me how this could escalate and not in my favor but I wasn’t scared

2020 = self-reflection and evaluation; question everything: Being Antiracist training series; incubate the idea of Profit Without Oppression [PWO]

2021 = process and internalize the answers to 2020’s questions: shutdown #causeascene website and podcast; pilot Managing Tech Management training course

2022 = use those answers to prune; clear a path to receive: launched myself as the Antiracist Economist; wrote PWO; decided NOT to finish my doctoral program

2023: book release January 3rd and…

Honestly, I’m really enjoying my experience here, which enables me to see the possibilities…although getting the 411 about which instance to join helped

It’s not a perfect alternative to Twitter but since I’ve been focusing on making the shift from #causeascene, which wouldn’t work at all here, to building a supremacy, coercion, discrimination, and exploitation free future, my engagement had already changed
