The New York Times - Canadian Wildfires Are Burning Where They Rarely Have Before

With three months left in Canada’s wildfire season, blazes have already scorched more than 10 times the acres of land burned by this time last year.

Are the areas of backing fires included in ordinary mapped final-extent wildfire perimeters?
