Before "Straight Outta Compton (2015)" there was "CB4 (1993)", a mockumentary of hip-hop and rap with some up and coming names in acting and comedy mixed in with cameos from the big names in rap and hip-hop of the era. (And the obligatory anti-rap white conservative politican played by Phil Hartman.) It is still very enjoyable.

Terrific, funny cast. And some badass beats. But much like the culture it parodies, #CB4 is more flash than substance. It has a story, sure, but it's not exactly what I would describe as tight. But it's there, and given the nature of the film it's more than enough to hang a parody of gangster rap culture on.
Fun stuff.
