As we are starting to organize #CBIAS2023, we would love to hear what you liked and/or disliked at #CBIAS2022.
We aim for a wide variety of speakers. So if you have someone in mind, please let us know (self-nominations are okay too π).

#CBIAS2022 Panel discussion; panelist perspective @The_CBIAS
RT @dgaboriau
Panel session: should I aim to become a bioimage analyst? With Robert Hasse @haesleinhuepf , Kota Miura @cmci_ and Arianne Bercowski @bercowskya, moderated by @lankylaste
#CBIAS2022
βIt depends!β
I think the bioimage analyst as craftsperson is a great analogy: a bioimage analyst that can't code is a carpenter that can only use a third of their tools. Yes, if their whole career is doing things that only require that specific third of their tools they might get away with it, but if I was hiring a carpenter I'd probably look for the one that knows how to use every tool. #CBIAS2022
genuinely surprised by how much pushback "a bioimage analyst needs to know how to code at some point" as an idea is receiving. Biology already is a data science, it will become even more so. #CBIAS2022

AND FINALLY: we have a panel discussion on "to be (a bioimage analyst) or not to be (a bioimage analyst)". Robert opened by answering "yes" even before the introductions. π #CBIAS2022
Deep learning strikes again - Natalie Holroyd from UCL is using everyone's best friend to segment 3d vasculature by creating a general base model that can be applied for different problems. #CBIAS2022
Local talk! Katie Bentley from the Crick is talking about retinal vessels and doing some 3d analysis to them. (Apologies for missing the title slide - i got carried away talking about OMERO and presenting my poster π ) #CBIAS2022

And finally, the last one before lunch: Friederike Kessel from Dresden with more zebrafish - this time in immune cell behavior after spinal cord injury. #CBIAS2022
The Sheffield-and-Dresden session keeps going with Nick van Hateren (Sheffield), who will tell us all about cell tracking for epithelial cells in zebrafish ear. #CBIAS2022
Now we have Till Korten from Dresden doing motion-aware segmentation to track molecular motors moving around for network biocomputation. Having a great time looking at the microtubules zip around. #CBIAS2022

It's great to learn about the latest trends and knowledge in biomedical image analysis.
Very much looking forward to the next panel discussion on "Should I aim to become a bioimage analyst?"
