It has been a hectic week, but I wanted to give credit to Pinterest user smallraven1 who likes to paint small boats of the #GreatLakes. There are several Canadian Coast Guard vessels on there, including some of the #CCGSLimnos, but recently completed one for our primary #DFO #Science vessel at the #GreatLakesLab, the R.V. Cisco. It is lovely as I am sure you will agree π. Check out their other works.

Forgot to post this, but our #GreatLakes field season for the binational π¨π¦πΊπΈ Cooperative Science and Monitoring Initiative #CSMI2023 jumped off to a start with our #CCGSlimnos sailing through the Burlington Lift Bridge to deploy our thermistor moorings last week. #Science #LakeOntario #FisheriesAndOceansCanada

There isn't much ice this year but we took advantage of the mild weather to use the #CCGSlimnos as a platform to train our new co-op students to sample #HamiltonHarbour water properties and #zooplankton this week. Winter limnology is not well documented for the #GreatLakes so we are making an effort to collect samples monthly if we can. Plenty of phytoplankton and zooplankton. We will do our part sampling again for the collaborative π¨π¦ πΊπΈ #WinterGrab2023 in a month.
