One of the beautiful Cedar Waxwings I saw yesterday afternoon.

About a dozen were at the water treatment plant, catching insects in mid-air and briefly landing on the metal railing.

Partridge in a pear tree.

Well maybe not a partridge or a pear tree. But this could be a cedar waxwing tree. They blend pretty good, don't they?

I took this photograph almost a month ago, when these birds were still around. I haven't seen them in a while. There were a whole bunch of them that would land in the oak tree behind my wife's quilting shop every afternoon. They did that for weeks.

Why that tree? I really don't know, it overlooks our backyard, and the bird feeders, but I never saw one at the feeders. Though, I did occasionally see a couple in the oak tree that stands inside the backyard. Perhaps they felt safe being around a place where a lot of birds congregate.

Maybe it gave them a chance to take a break, because if a predator were to come around there were lots of other birds around to raise the alarm.

This cedar waxwing looks like a bandit put together by Crayola.

"Building a nest takes a female Cedar Waxwing 5 to 6 days and may require more than 2,500 individual trips to the nest. It was heaven with the in abundance on the Sargent Cherry trees in Canada. The were eating them like they were candy and gulping them down like someone was going to take it from them!

Almost

I normally save these for morning toots. But I'm kind of proud that this is almost in focus. The thing about these cedar waxwings is they move pretty fast and there's not much exposure time between point A and point B, so it's kind of lift and shoot.

Besides, this doesn't look too horrible.

Hmmm ... I'm having a bit of DeJa'Vu.

Very interesting 🧐

This cedar waxwing seems to be closely studying something on that branch.

I need to figure out a way to get closer to these birds, but they are always at the tops of very tall trees. Short of climbing the tree, I'm at a loss.

Good morning ☕☕☕

It's coffee time again my friends 🎶🎵

I use these slightly out of focus birds in flight for the first toot in the morning. Usually, it's pigeons because they are incredibly easy to catch flying. This photo though is of cedar waxwings passing over. In fact, I started to entitle this post "Not Pigeons" 😬.
