Do we really have to slap " #gate " on every little (or big) scandal that happens?

I'm not saying the scandals are no scandals. And many have a just cause: i.e. #celebgate or #gamergate.
It's just the nomenclature that ticks me off. We should remember what a huge criminal drive the original #watergate-scandal had.
