Cells contain specialized structures (organelles) that carry out crucial tasks. How #cells regulate the size & number of these organelles has remained a puzzle. Now, biophysicists demonstrate that cells appear to produce #organelles through a “bursty” process that enables them to control organelle sizes & numbers. The work aids understanding of the mechanisms of #cellularfunction.
