Status update on the whole RHEL iperf3 saga...

The patch by @jonathanspw has been merged into @centos Stream 8! The c9s patch state is a bit different as the maintainer would rather backport than rebase.

This comes after Red Hat has now rated CVE-2023-38403 an Important, the second highest rating.

@vwbusguy Here's the thing. When using @centos, the main point of value creation is when you participate in the project. Whether that's filing bugs/submitting fixes to #CentOSStream or contributing/supporting SIGs like the Hyperscale and Kmods SIGs, you are taking some *ownership* of the project to help make it sustainable.

This is also true in @fedora, it's just new to community users of the Enterprise Linux ecosystem.

In 2014, Red Hat acquired #CentOS. But that didn't work out. So in 2020 closed CentOS and started #CentOSStream. Does Red Hat want you to pay for #RHEL #subscription? You bet. Does it think that this PR fiasco will help? Nope. But does IBM understand? No, I don't think #BigBlue's top brass gets it. IBM wants to squeeze more profits out of Red Hat by making it more like IBM, cutting costs, and increasing RHEL #licensing volume

I think my biggest issue with the whole #redhat debacle is that people are acting like #centosstream is basically as unstable as arch. (or worse).

Is that really true? Listening to @carlwgeorge, it seems to me that RHEL updates get rolled into CentOS anyway. So it's basically RHEL staging.

Is that not a good free alternative, if you need free?

@stonewall Out of curiosity, what's wrong with #CentOSStream from @centos for your needs? It seems like a perfect fit for your environment and if you did find something wrong, at least there's a path to doing something about it or getting someone to do something about it.
