@farhanasultana I understand everyone longs for the one 'town hall', but I believe it would be more productive to learn to adapt to a world where that is not available (or rather a world where one understands the cost of such a 'solution' is ultimately not worth paying - paid in personal freedom & safety). I guess, or rather hope, that the half generation after you will adapt to #decentralisation #federation, as they'll be less vested in the habits of #centralisation.

One caveat, excuse us.

When it comes to #BunnyCDN (and CAGEMAFIA) for serving actually **content blobs** like images and video etc, we do enter problematic #centralisation territory, yes. As a result we think images must to be served like #Peertube, ie. #P2P, importantly using #I2P network and only sharing content you've interacted with + don't disallow explicitly + if your phone battery is above 33%.

Looks like we don't need laws after all for platforms to opportunistically suppress political user content: In 🇫🇷 #France, a #Snapchat #lobbyist admitted in a parliamentary hearing that the company was "proud" to have collaborated "hand in hand with the interior ministry" to make sure only user content critical of the mass protests was shown on #SnapMaps.

We regret that you are right about #centralisation of #Bitcoin (and pretty much all cryptocurrencies) as few services are not served via #CAGEMAFIA — CloudFlare being one of the worst offenders.

Having said that it is a problem with #theInternet, generally. We need more #decentralising systems and services online, as you mentioned #IPFS.

The lack of uptake of such alternatives is a #communication problem we need to overcome.

Sometimes, the public opinion gets unanimously wrong.

- The #fediverse should have more instances that are managed by elected admins, with elected moderators, and paid collectively by its users.

- If people have no restriction to move their accounts to another instance (unlike real life, where relocating to another city/country is expensive), then it's ok if there a lot of #centralisation

If a CDN becomes too big the result is a just another #centralisation problem. Again, censorship and suppression at scale in the form of denial of serving content like #images and #videos is possible.

The #TooBigToExist CDN can also begin to gather data on users, for example when they are accessing the content and what content do they tend to look at etc.

The very nature of the #legacyInternet is unworkable. Alternatives like #I2P and Tor exist.

Beware of billionaires peddling “decentralisation”.

Anyone seeking a decentralised world would never allow themselves to do the things it takes to become (or remain) a billionaire. Billionaires and trillion-dollar corporations are the epitome of centralisation.

Decentralisation begins at decentring yourself.

more than 40% of the total users are on FIVE mastodon instances. In fact, more than 10% are on ONE instance.
That is NOT "decentralised", that is "centralised with minor exceptions".
