Today I’m grateful for Charles the #Octopus.

In 1959, a researcher ran an experiment with three octopuses (Albert, Bertram and Charles): the octopus pulls a lever, a light goes on, the octopus gets food.

Albert and Bertram were exemplary subjects, Charles was not. He broke the lever, stole the light & squirted anyone who came near his tank with water.

May we all live up to Charles’ example, & our behaviour be described as “incompatible with lever-pulling”.

The advent squid facts from @SarahMackAttack that squids and other cephalopods are color blind really sent my family down a little research trail. Hard to really imagine how they perceive color, because obviously they do, just not in the normal way. #cephalopoda
