The leap second’s time is up: world votes to stop pausing clocks
'Representatives from Canada, the United States and France were among those at the CGPM who called for the leap second to be scrapped before 2035. But Russia, which voted against the proposal, wants to push back the date to 2040 or later to deal with technical issues in its satellite-navigation system, GLONASS.'
