Currently working on. I am quite pleased that I figured out how to do Spiral Round - though I had to undo a couple of inches before I got it right. #Maille #ChainMaille #Jewellery #Craft #Artisan

I went to a 'beading class / crafternoon' last week because I liked the idea of doing some beading. I only technically did some beading.
Someone brought a bunch of various letter beads. I've had the idea for a while that I need some kind of fun name tag, because it's easier than spelling my name when I introduce myself (especially over loud music). I decided to use the beads to solve this problem... somehow.
When the tool you're used to is pliers, everything gets solved with chain maille.
I've attached everything to a blanket pin, which looks great but unfortunately is only really usable on knitted fabrics.
Still, I love the juxtaposition of styles here. A convenient way to say more about me than just my name.
I'll keep searching for other name tag possibilities...

I wanted to make a chain out of the Vipera Berus weave because it looked cool and fun - both turned out to be correct! - though I wasn't sure what to actually do with it until recently.
I made it 41cm long, just the right length to fit under a shirt collar, or wrap it twice around my wrist. I can also wear it under an open, unbuttoned collar.
I'm not 100% sold on the usability around my neck and I'm tempted to add about 16cm to the length so I can wear it as a longer chain, and still be able to wrap it around my wrist (three times).
I'll see how it goes.

I spent over half of the weekend hyperfocusing on chain craft. I found a lot of interesting weaves on mailleartisans dot org, added them to my growing document, wrote down the (often vague or unclear) given sizes and converted them all to AWG, converted these sizes up or down to give me different gauge options, and then identified which things I could make based on the spare ring sizes I had available.
I also re-made my inventory spreadsheet, added conversion charts directly within it so I don't have to keep switching tabs, and re-counted every ring I had available so I know what I have.
I also found all of my other jewellery parts and sorted and bagged everything and put them in new containers so I can see and find things much easier.
The math and organisational parts can be so much fun!
Anyway, here are some pictures of things I made this weekend that are far less interesting in comparison =)
In order:
Celtic Spikes - Large gauge (14 and 16awg). The middle ring is slightly too small that it wants to push forward and be more three-dimensional. I actually like it.
Celtic Spikes - Smaller gauge, with added embellishments and a large ring in the middle.
Sakura - This looks amazing but is very flimsy. Will need to re-try later with different size rings, or add more rings somewhere to stabilise it more.
Celtic Star - I actually made this one last year. I wear it a lot. I might try variations on this soon.
These are all suitable as pendants, but also strung together for a necklace/choker, or the general idea of the weave can be made into a more traditional choker.

These byzantine paperclip chains have been added to the shop! 🔗
Available in all stainless steel for both the necklace and bracelet option, with a rainbow option available for the bracelet.
Each chain ends with a hex nut to not only add some weight and style, but also make a cool connection with the clasp.
Custom color and pride flag requests are more than welcome!

The "Infinenby" bracelet (infinity bracelet in the colours of the non-binary flag) is finished!
'Garter weave' with eight different colours in total to make it more interesting.
I'm quite happy with how this turned out. I find the flag colours... uh... not the most pleasing, so I wasn't sure how it would go.

Two works in progress.
Left will be an infinity bracelet in the non-binary flag colours. I used eight different colours in order to make it more interesting and the main colours pop a bit more. Just need to add the smaller rings to secure it together, and then test the sizing.
Right is a full Persian 6-in-1 chain with six different colours - basically purple, blue and pink with a light and dark variation of each.
Both bracelets will be gifts for friends. I am not great at remembering to take photos before I give things away, so this is me making an effort!

Dragonscale #choker in the colours of the #trans flag.
Made this one back in January. I do like the look of the plain aluminium substituting for white.
It feels nice to wear as a choker and I love how big it is.
The weave can also be worn loose, as a wide circle at the base of the neck, but I'm in a choker phase of my life so I made this one tight.
More pictures in the reply.

King's Scale, aka Garter Weave, aka Infinity bracelet, in lavender purple, light blue, and plain aluminium.
This is my favourite bracelet by far.
I made it just the right length that it's very easy to slip it off my hand, but only when I want it to.
It rolls around my wrist nicely (the small, plain rings act a bit like 'wheels') and it is very, very useful as a fidget toy on or off my wrist. I'm constantly flipping it or weaving it around my fingers, or just moving it across my wrist.
And it just looks really good! I made good colour choices this time around.

Celtic strap weave choker in plain and seafoam green aluminium.
This one came out quite well. I like the weave and the shape, and it was fun to put together.
I wasn't sure about how loose the rings are (I generally like when rings stay exactly in place) but it's so flexible and feels good to play with. It's more like an intricate, loose knit than some of the other projects I've done.
The only downside is that the colour doesn't stand out as much as I had hoped. Could be improved with a bigger contrast between the large and small rings, or perhaps a variety of colours all through it.
Hille weave choker necklace in seafoam green, lavender purple, and plain aluminium.
It's a good look, but of all the chokers I've made it's the only one that feels scratchy after a while wearing it.
While the seafoam green and lavender look nice together in general, I think this weave needs a different combination to make each colour stand out more.
The byzantine in a couple of bracelet options, both entirely stainless steel. Always tempting to experiment with more varieties. But these are currently up in the shop!
