Four Women, the latest film from #Ottawa -based #Creatorland Studios, is an elegantly-told story about the power of individuals to create change. Directed by Zainab Muse, and written and produced by Muse with Nickie Shobeiry, the #film furthers Creatorland’s mission of amplifying “unheard voices” in #Canadian #media

I’ve got a No Riffs for Racists shirt this band put out in support of the BLM protests in 2020 (all proceeds donated to I believe a bail fund, but I’ve slept a few times since then) laying around my house somewhere. I remember being struck by a bunch of Brits seeing a major problem in the US and finding a way to pitch in.

My partner's next pick is James Dale by Choirboys:
#JukeboxFridayNight #changemakers
Putting in some representation of musicals to this theme, here's Do You Hear The People Sing? from the 10th Anniversary concert of Les Miserables:
#JukeboxFridayNight #changemakers
Meanwhile, my partner puts forth Jefferson Airplane with White Rabbit:
#JukeboxFridayNight #changemakers
Another song that comes to mind, that I haven't seem posted previously (but I didn't scroll through all of it), is Uprising by Muse:
#JukeboxFridayNight #changemakers
Meanwhile, my partner would like to point to Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers, with Into The Great Wide Open:

The theme for this week's #JukeboxFridayNight is (was?) #ChangeMakers. We were doing other things last night, but figured we'd chip in a few songs since it's still Friday elsewhere. So, here's the theme song opener to Inu Yasha, which starts with the words "I want to change the world":

Following my previous toot, here Scott and Mitch from #Pentatonix sing Guy.Exe in their side project, Superfruit.
Not so much #Changemakers but lots of fun.

Here Pentatonix sing Prayers For This World

#Pentatonix are #ChangeMakers
Not only have they built a successful career as an #Acapella group selling millions of albums and winning Grammies, they've also had social successes. Their strong Christian following loves their Christmas albums.
The group hears from parents they're now more accepting of their own gay kids thru getting to know Scott and Mitch who are both openly gay

Last one for this week, and probably the least relevant to the theme, but it's got the word changes in the title so it's good enough for me.
Changes - Sugar

Time for another #JukeboxFridayNight. My previous picks have been a bit male, haven't they? Well, time for something different.
An enormous, irreplaceable influence on blues, rock'n'roll, gospel and soul, there are few more impactful #changemakers than the great Sister Rosetta Tharpe.
And frankly, I'll take any excuse to play a bit of Sister Rosetta. This one is Strange Things Happening Every Day, from 1945.

One of the joys of Jukebox Friday Night for me is being reminded of songs or making connections with things that other people have posted. Thanks to @RolloTreadway posting a Fela Kuti track earlier, I remembered about this by one of his sons.
One Day Someday - Femi Kuti

This song was originally composed by prisoners held in a Nazi labour camp, and went on to become popular during the Spanish Civil War and with various resistance / peace groups. Incidentally, it was one of the songs that got me into Lankum (or Lynched as they still were at that point.)
Peat Bog Soldiers - Lankum

Some time ago, in a previous #JukeboxFridayNight, I included a brilliant new version from Frankie Archer of Close the Coalhouse Door.
Same song this time, but the original by Alex Glasgow. This is very much a local link to the #Changemakers theme; the modern folk music of northeastern England owes a great debt to Alex Glasgow (he came from Gateshead, not Glasgow), who introduced a distinctive industrial leftwing element to the music of these parts. Songs of poverty and work and sacrifice, which have been carried on by almost every Northumbrian folk musician in the years since.
