🎧 "Listening" to new-today songs reminded me of my disco DJ days. Friday mornings I got a box of new 12" from the record pool. I "listened" to them all, sometimes as many as 40. I learned to "needle drop"—listen to a few seconds at several points in the record. That's how quickly I (and other DJ's) picked "plays." A fraction of those would become hits.
