The altar in Bishop Bekynton's chantry chapel. As part of the custom, the Mayor of Wells places flowers on the altar to give thanks and to remember Bekynton's life and works. Bekynton provided fresh, clean water for the city from St Andrew's Well in the cathedral grounds, among other things, which the service commemorates. (The altar is cleared away very quickly afterwards, though, so there's only one candle left, for instance.)
