How much do I get into character creation?

Well..
There's a low chance I'll get to play #Lancer anytime soon, but that didn't stop me from manually setting the colours for my pilot's call sign so it forms a gradient 😅
......and I'm probably buying the source material next paycheque so I'm better able to build/'flesh'out the #NHP she created.

Making a character for Court of Blades, a Forged in the Dark game of court intrigue and romance. I'm excited to have an opportunity to trot out one of my favorite character archetypes, which is also highly situational: "spy who spends so much time being other people they don't remember who they are."

Anyway, I’m having one of those moments where I’m about to scrap a #V5 character…and only because the ST is asking so many questions that it’s making me feel stupid about the character. Like, I don’t know the answer to these questions because we haven’t even RPd with them yet to know how they’d react.

My next #DnD #5e character (since good old Tinker took one for the team at the end of Campaign 1) will be a Gloom Stalker Ranger with 1 level in Monk. Koru the Kenku wears a mask in public and acts as his alter ego Nighthawk in order to deliver his version of justice.

Digging through my D&D books looking at character options and am now looking at building a Thri-Kreen Artillerist Artificer.

Just a big old bug dude gunslinger with an iron in each hand.
Two Eldritch Cannons in his lower hands at lvl 15+, Arcane Firearm in one upper hand, aaand fuckit a regular gun (or crossbow) I guess in the other.

Just a shame he'd have to cut holes in the stetson to let his antennae through.

General Character Generation

On Reddit someone asked, without regard to a specific setting or system, how you make a "good character".

The following is the method I tend to use for most games. YMMV

1. If you have some idea of what the setting and adventure is going to be like, consider what kind of activities might be useful when choosing abilities. Check with the Game Master (GM) about what to expect.

So, I made a simple prompt image from the free Discord bot. https://aiimagegenerator.art (top left).

Then I took that image into NightCafe Studio and did a comic book style with it and it generated these other three octocats.

I find it interesting for character creation for artists and even writers.

So I'm playing a Cyberpunk Red campaign. It's my first time, and so far I am having a blast!

I am playing a fixer, I created my fixer with an affinity group building and mutual aid networking angle. In researching how to play a fixer after I developed my character, there are all these guides that tell me "fixers are all about money" or they're "just doing business"

You know what? Fuck that, don't tell me my character can't give a shit about mutual aid! Of course she has to make rent and is willing to get her hands dirty when necessary, but she was raised by an anarcho-syndicalist history teacher so she ended up with morals. It's only 2045, and they can look back to the labor movement. There will always be good people, even in a bleak world like Cyberpunk Red, good for cyberpunk that is. Plus after the 4th corporate war, affinity groups and mutual aid make even more sense!

Idea for a random character generator:

Roll five 6-sided dice. Arrange them in any order. Players are given traits in 7 categories based on their rolls, but can veto an choose twice (could "roll the dice" on gender and race, or choose it yourself)
