Ah, who knows where I read it: maybe some source promoting Dijon clones, or someone speculating why Pinot Gris seemed to have more success as Pinot Noir's partner in OR ( no longer the case). Listening to Founders' Stories more recently, I learned that many of them had ties to Alsace, explaining the Gris. If the idea that Wente is better adapted to CA than OR is BS, then good to know!
