I just finished #rachelmaddow’s #UltraPodcast. Which makes me this many days old, since I knew that #woodyguthrie wrote a deliciously biting song about #CharlesLindbergh and the #AmericaFirst movement. Which sadly, could equally apply to many people today (*cough* tЯump GOP Russia).

#CharlesLindbergh being an anti-semite shouldn’t have to be something I learn in 2022. It was already the year I decided he killed his own child and paid to have it covered up with a fake kidnapping, so I’m not surprised to learn of more moral bankruptcy, but we need to talk about these things when we talk about these “heroes.”

If you think you know about the #Holocaust you don't. If you think you understand the connection to the #AmericaFirst and #MAGA movements, you don't.

At least 90% of the images and footage in the #KenBurns documentary were things I'd never seen before. And even though I went to progressive schools during the 1960s and 1970s, most of the real story of US involvement in the genocide, was never taught to me.

Unfortunately, it's not remotely a stretch to say that the US was complicit in the Holocaust and responsible for perhaps 25% of the deaths of #Jews who could have been easily saved if not for US #antisemitism

#CharlesLindbergh was the #TuckerCarlson of the Holocaust.

Had we merely *processed the visa applications of the Jews trying to flee Hitler,* hundreds of thousands of lives would have been saved.

Instead we kept strict numeric quotas in place throughout the war, and even turned away a shipload of refugees that was forced to return to Europe. About 1/3 of the refugees on that ship died in the camps. That's only one of about 10 bombshells in the doc.

This is the stuff of literal #nightmares As in, if you watch this, you will definitely have actual nightmares.

Watch it anyway. Because if we don't learn these lessons, we might all have to relive it.
