Last January, in celebration of 59th birthday of the great #DebashishBhattacharya, I recorded his composition in raag #Kafi. Kafi corresponds to the Dorian mode in western music.
The instrument is a #chaturangui, designed and manufactured by Debashish. 22 strings—six melody strings played with a tone bar, 2 chikaris, 2 drones, and 12 sympathetics. The rhythm is deepchandi taal, a 14 beat cycle. 123-1212-123-1212.
