Got my rates increase today. Oof, a bit painful. I’ve been putting off trimming a couple of things, but this may be the motivation to clean up so dead weight costs.

The #chch Park Terrace cycleway survey results really paint car drivers in a bad light—well no, it just shines a light on the car drivers’ shitty behaviour and self-centredness.
Mostly negative comments about pedestrian impact, but pedestrians stated their journeys improved. Car drives having the most negative comments about safety impact. Car drivers stating it’s a waste of money (but road infra generally isn’t?)
This note about cheating the survey though really drives it home:
So the only person who was against the temporary Park Tce cycleway was someone who thought the best way to make her argument was to use hyperbolic language and slag off public who came to sit in support of it? Classless. I’d like to know what law firm she works for so I can never go there or recommend it.
High school students shouldn’t have to be the ones pushing government to do the right thing, especially on climate change, but does it ever give me life to see them holding politicians to account.
I have always believed that if you were passionate about a cause that you can't stay on the sidelines and shout. You have to get yourself out there and fight for it.
So I'm throwing my hat into the ring as an Independent Candidate for the Christchurch Central Electorate! I hope that I can use this campaign as a platform to advocate for greater transport options, building up our #Rail, and infrastructure projects in #Chch and the South Island.
See you on the campaign trail! 🚂
"But Christchurch is too small for commuter rail!" Some decry.
What if I told you of the magical land of Wellington, whose population is similar to Chch & has a commuter rail network that moved 12.8 million commuters in 2019?
How long will chch have to draw the short straw?
I live near the Port Hills in Ōtautahi #chch and always love seeing them change through the seasons xxx
