I must have played one of these old versions once. Don't care much.
I answer #TunnelsandTrolls (5e?, end of the 70s? ). BTW: In my opinion, the core of #TnT didn't change much over the decades/editions...

But you can also use them to enforce #contracts, if you prefer that to duck typing (not built-in). A lot of Pythonistas will hold their nose at that, but it can be useful to "die loudly and early" when someone else passes the wrong #types to your #function.

I just don't understand why #checkers / #draughts is played on a checkered board. Such a missed opportunity for a staggered pin grid array #SPGA.
If you don't draw rectangles for fields, but represent fields as positions and draw connecting lines between them, you end up with pretty diamond-shapes.
Attached is a playing field for the checkers variant #Lasca that I am currently exploring. Nicely printable for A4 (if you are interested I can provide a PDF).

Surprisingly few people have strong opinions on the best console #checkers or #draughts video game of 1980.
My pick would be #Activision Checkers on the #Atari2600: it’s simple and presents ‘kings’ as a stack like on a real board.
Video Checkers has inexplicably sluggish controls and inferior presentation. #Intellivision Checkers seems fine, though its controls are unnecessarily complicated.
