#DaftPunk gets the love that #ChemicalBrothers rightly deserve. The Chems are definitely revered but in not quite the same way Daft Punk is. Daft Punk got their start as indie rockers on Stereolab’s #Duphonic label while the Dust Brothers were learning to move crowds as a DJ duo at The Heavenly Social which is something you hear ring true in every Chemical Brothers set/album/etc. Such a pure representation of the UK dance floor sound from Balearic, to house, UK techno and of course breaks.

It’s 2023 and I’m bouncing along to a new Chemical Brothers album. I remember when they first got big and my dad telling me they wouldn’t last like the big soul acts of the 60s/70s. Well here we are, 34 years after their formation. 😂

#GreatAlbums1990s - #ChemicalBrothers - #ExitPlanetDust (1995). The Bros’ Big Beat style brought the visceral impact and accessibility of alternative rock to the world of electronic dance. Early single “Song of the Siren” (remixed here) was the template, but “Leave Home” was the ubiquitous anthem – the closest thing in 90s electro to a “Freebird” or “Stairway to Heaven.” EPD kicked up enough dirt to cross over in the US as well.
