So this isn't me saying "oh, don't worry", just that it's possible for this to be a disaster for the aquatic ecosystem, without causing long-term contamination that would make it unsafe to eat fish that re-populate the river in a few years, for example.

Eating them will probably be unsafe for the normal reasons like heavy metals and PCBs.

All of that said, there's concern over dioxin release from the fire, it's valid to worry that vinyl chloride contaminated things we don't know about, AND that that wasn't the only chemical involved.

Corporations lie as much as cops do.

It was just a thought that occurred to me, that might helpful as this disaster unfolds.

Watched the body cam video of a #Memphis cop who accidentally got #PepperSpray on himself at the beating scene. He paces around while other cops continue to attack #TyreNichols. He moans and curses at the effects of the spray, of which he probably only got a small amount on himself. And yet he expects civilians to just sit still and submit and respect him while they are being tortured with the very same #ChemicalWeapon. That cop had been dousing Tyre straight in the face with the spray, multiple times.

This would be a terrible escalation.
