Cherokees just celebrated Cherokee National Holiday, commemorating the founding of the modern Cherokee nation in 1839 in Talequah, Oklahoma.

Celebrated on the same weekend as #laborday,
the Cherokee National Holiday also commemorates reuniting east and west Cherokees, the signing of their constitution, and survival against the Trail of Tears.

The Cherokee Nation celebrate with an intertrival powwow, dance and traditional sports like cornstalk shοot.

This hour’s random desktop background image on my #MacbookPro is yours truly flying the short final to KHIO (Hillsboro, Oregon) RWY 2 in our former 1963 Cherokee 235 (Katy). Proof that at some point, yes, I was a pilot.

The 235 was a business airplane for clients in Cali, when that business went away, it became a very expensive hamburger chaser, so I sold it. Also spent WAY too much on maintenance.
