Interesting how people who make #chess courses on #Chessable will say they "found this interesting novelty," when it's Stockfish's recommended move. The most people are really doing now is "testing" the engine moves with a heavy dose of confirmation bias already in place. I would doubt anybody is finding anything on their own.

Thinking about springing for a #Chessable course, though not one of the overpriced video ones. The site seems a little bit janky, tbh, but I am a believer in the spaced repetition method, and since I’ve never really practiced openings and because I’ll have some free time in March, I thought I might give it a try. #chess

In der neuen Ausgabe der Zeitschrift #Schach habe ich mir ein paar betriebswirtschaftliche Gedanken zur Zukunft von @chesscom nach der Übernahme von @PlayMagnus gemacht. Das Geschäftsmodell der PMG ist gescheitert, einfach nur den Eigentümer zu wechseln, wird nicht reichen. Sorgenkind ist v.a. #Chessable, deren Zahlen laut Quartalsbericht weit hinter den vollmundigen Ankündigungen der Vergangenheit zurückliegen. #Chesscom wird Änderungen am operativen Geschäft vornehmen müssen.

I only packed one chess book to take with me on our Christmas travels: Vukovic’s classic “Art of Attack in Chess”, which I have yet to finish after 20 years on my book shelf. I went to Chessable to pick out a Christmas treat, and on my dashboard is a promotion: “spend $100 and get the Art of Attack in Chess video course free”. #chesscom made a bid for ownership of the #playmagnus group today. not sure what that means? well, here's the breakdown.

magnus carlsen is famous chess man. gets many dollaroos. has comoany with his name on it and some ownership. starts buying out a bunch of chess services and publications (#chessable and new in chess) and has his iwn chess server in #chess24 in 2021. realizes that all that acquiring was actually kinda expensive and playmagnus is running low on money. in that regard, this move is not surprising.

chesscom, world's biggest #chess server by virtue of being for-profit and being called chess dot com, makes an offer to playmagnus. they'll probably accept due to having spent $$$ that they really kinda didn't have. here's what chesscom is currently running:
