The #chiatura miners strike that went on for most of June has come to an end with key demands being met by the company. Pretty inspiring in a context where labour unions are not very present but community and solidarity are ripe.

Today went to a solidarity rally with manganese miners striking in #Chiatura, in downtown #Tbilisi. The strike and labour disputes have been on going for almost a year now, with some escalations on the workers side recently and more and more people supporting their demands.

So visited the strange rather post-apocalyptic Soviet mining town of #Chiatura in #Georgia #Sakartvelo yesterday for a wonderful concert. The theatre dates back to the pre-Soviet era but has interesting #Soviet art. Wonderful faded grandeur. They haven't even bothered getting rid of the "Glory to Great Stalin" freize on the front of the building which I'm less keen on.
