5:55am: -6°F, windchill -26°F. We've been checking the #chickens daily for frostbite and have been lucky so far. This is our first year with a backyard flock, so I worry. Inside the coop is definitely warmer than the run, and the water is clear and unfrozen. Even with extra scratch and grubs for the girls to keep them moving, I am glad we took the time to build Cluckingham Palace the way we did so they have a nice big shelter to be out of that wind .
