For me, emotional expression was limited to listening to Dead Bodies Everywhere, Got The Life, Here To Stay, The Outsider, or any other song to which I felt such a connection. I know everyone else can relate to this. This was all I had. By the time I was 15 I learned I couldn't trust anybody. There wasn't anything I could say or do that wouldn't be made fun of or cause me to receive a beating. I could not be myself. Not only could I not be myself, but I had no way to express any of my emotions. I was simply not allowed to be human. Also, every person automatically knows how to socialize and are able to form relationships. Being tossed from foster home to foster home to psych ward to group home to juvie to here to there to wherever else, being socially isolated, being drugged, and having only a psychiatrist to talk to have absolutely no effect on a person's ability to form relationships or on their expectation on how relationships are formed. #childhoodmatters #mentalhealth #relationships

Honestly, who even remembers anything before they turned 18? Absolutely nobody. Nobody actually remembers being held down and beaten because their stepfather didn't like that their eyes were adjusting to the light. Besides, that would never happen. I pretended just like everyone else that none of my childhood experiences actually mattered in adulthood. I'm so very normal. Other people can sense how very normal I am because there are established social mannerisms and cues that I so very easily follow. Literally no person who felt ignored by their parents has ever had depression in adulthood because childhood experiences don't matter after 18. #basicpsychology #childhoodmatters
