She said she doesn't recognize him as her stepfather and never will. Her mom has been through different boyfriends and fiance's so I imagine it's been hard on her. Her mom is not teaching her daughter empathy, responsibility or how to be a child. She's turning her into an incompetent parent which not only destroys her self esteem but confuses her.
