When I was a pretty little kid I spent a lot of weekends shuttling from my dad's to my mom's via Greyhound bus by myself. Just remembering how you had to pay to enter a bathroom stall in the local station -- a nickel! Very stressful if you forgot exact change. And I think people could smoke on the buses back then? A lot of people on those buses were extremely nice to me, like, extremely.
