Today I was invited to join my state's school library conference in April to sign books! It had been a long, intense day (not bad, though) with my day job, so having this recognition of myself as an author was very rewarding. I love school libraries (I volunteered once a week in my son's all through his elementary school years), so being with those wonderful book-lovers will be quite the dream!

i really love that Google Books gives me a sample of books I'm thinking of reading. Usually, I read a chapter or two, then order it from my library.

And then sometimes I read a chapter or two, and keep reading until the sample is done. And am desperate to read on.

It may leave me temporarily miserable to be left aloft mid-story, but at least it promises that I'll really enjoy that book.

Nearly 500 words written this morning but but I actually prefer to go more slowly ... especially in this sticky middle, I want to make sure the character's moves are well motivated and in tune with her arc. Still, a productive morning.

I love doing World Read Aloud Day (it's so much fun to meet with classes), but it kind of stinks that I'm in EST, which makes the "world" aspect quite limited. Case in point: a school in Mumbai wants me to present to pretty much their whole elementary and middle school. That would be so cool, but my time zone means that I couldn't quite manage (due to having a 9-5 day job, I tend to be a little tired at 8 pm Zooms of this kind, so a post-10 pm one is not going to work).

I'm a #ChildrensAuthor and #ScienceEducator. I have two books currently out and more on the way! I've worked at zoos, museums, and universities, doing the science research and science ed thing. I've presented to literally hundreds of thousands of kids and adults, and now focus on sharing science through writing. (Though I still do school visits!)

Clark (1896-1995) spent 25 years as a literacy teacher for Tesuque Pueblo children. Following this experience she dedicated her writing career to depicting Native American culture through the eyes of its children.
