For the ancient cultures of peru, such as the Inca, Chimú, & Moche, gold & silver weren’t regarded as having different worth, but rather being representative of the dieties of the sun vs the moon. Different cultures would wear jewerly of each metal depending on which god they paid higher homage to. Silver was particularly important to coastal people, who valued the moon’s influence upon the tides.

Drone flight over Fortress Paramonga. It was built by the Chimú empire to defend their south frontier against enemies. Their rapid southern expansion may have been encouraged by the growing power of the Inca empire to their southeast, in preparation for a future conflict. But the Chimú were no match for the Inca. They were defeated during the rule of the Inca King Pachacuti.
